Flowers in Spring!

I walked through the Union Square Greenmarket yesterday and couldn't resist taking pictures and buying some lovely flowers/ At the moment there is a bohemian crystal vase full of fragrant white roses, a gift from a friends after a celebration yesterday. My home is full of peonies and assorted pretty flowers and feels so fresh...I try to have fresh flowers as a spiritual lift every week or so, and it makes a huge difference here.

The Union Square Greenmarket seems to consist of flower and honey vendors on Saturdays, and foods three times during the week. There are a lot of cool shops and cafes nearby, so if you are in NYC and want a market experience in a trendy neighborhood, the Flatiron District, this would be a great area to check out, and you are also close to the East Village as you walk south, so it's made for walking the city.

Bergdorf Goodman Windows Bring Spring to Frigid Town

I passed by Bergdorf's a couple of weeks ago, armed with only my Smartphone camera, and took a bunch of picures of their amazing windows, a colorful refuge in the midst of a very cold winter. I loved the balloon sculptures by Jason Hackenwerth. Check out a bunch of my pictures at Flicker here.

Spring Has Sprung

I was out in Montclair, New Jersey on Memorial Day and wanted to take some macro shots of flowers, to test the viability of my older digital camera. It will be four years old this fall, and is hanging in there, but I do detect a decline in its powers. I would love to be able to replace it, but that will have to wait, for now.

My sister in law has a pretty garden and there were some lovely colorful flowers blooming. She is especially devoted to irises, and we went later in the day to the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens, which surely must be Iris Heaven for devotees. A few specimens are here, but more are at my Flickr page and I may add more to that set (I always take too many shots).
